great weekend
Last weekend was one of the best weekends I've had in a while. On Friday, Troy took me to see Elizabethtown at the Palace Theater downtown after eating a snack at Quiznos to hold us over until dinner. The movie wasn't as good as I'd hoped; I thought some scenes were kind of awkward and stupid. It accomplished its purpose though, which is to make you feel good about life. Too bad Troy was bored the whole time. After the movie, we went to eat at P.F. Changs. We split the crispy honey chicken and it was pretty good. After that we hung out at his house for a while. It was cool to go out on a "date" and get all dressed up.
Saturday we went to the State Fair in Dallas. We got on the TRE at 12:55 and we didn't set foot into the fair until like 2:55. It took us 2 hours to go from the TRE, to the DART, to a shuttle, and finally to the park. Public transportation saves money and the environment, but its very slow and crowded sometimes. Anyway, the fair was pretty cool. I hadn't been since I was in 4th grade. We saw the new car shows and birds of the world. A big fat vulture flew over the crowd and we also saw a singing parrot. I wanted to ride the big Ferris Wheel, but it would have cost each of us about $5.50 to ride it. We got in for free because my mom got tickets from her job and we didn't have to pay $9 to park since we rode the train. We saved $35 just from those two things. We ended up spending like $45 in the park for food and a ride. It would have been cool to ride more rides, but each ride cost like $4 per person. Then at the end, there was a laser-light show that kind of sucked actually. The very beginning and the end were good. They used pyrotechnics and played the Phantom of the Opera Overture and then at the end they played Live & Let Die by my favorite - Paulie. So that was cool, but the middle of the show was boring. It only lasted like 20 minutes. I wanted to see the pig races, but the lines to get in were ridiculously long. If you want to go to the State Fair next year, I suggest you go during the week if possible. It was a lot of fun though; better than sitting around wondering what to do.
Then Sunday, we went to church and watched the Cowboys-Seahawks game. I think we all know how that ended.
So, this weekend was a lot of fun. Hopefully this coming weekend will be awesome as well. Friday I'm going over to Dallas around 12:30 and we're going to the Stars game. My boss told me to take half the day off, which is cool. I won't get paid, but it will be nice to not be working until 6 on a Friday.
Sorry for the long post. If you made it to the end, good job.
