Tax frustration

I'm kinda pissed off at my dad now. He insists on still claiming me as a dependent even though I made enough money last year to be in the same tax bracket as him I think.

It really makes me mad because I paid a lot on my college loans and over $4,000 in interest. I could deduct up to $2,500 of the interest if I claim myself on my return. I can't deduct any of it if he claims me though - he gets to deduct it. It really pisses me off because he has paid $0 toward my college expenses, yet he gets the deduction for it? I think I deserve whatever refund he gets from the $2,500 deduction. If you assume the 25% tax bracket, that's $625 I could be getting! GRRRRRRRRRRRRR

I'm pretty sure that he doesn't pay more than half of my living expenses anymore, which is the only way he could possibly claim me for 2006 taxes. I'm not in school anymore, so he can't use that reason. It makes me want to move out because this is just ridiculous. I'm not his freaking dependent anymore! All he pays for me is cell phone, internet, less than half my food, health & dental insurance (my share is only about $125 a month) and only a fraction of my housing and utilities (I pay him some rent money). I pay for everything else myself.

I hate living at home.

Passed series 63 with an 85

Well, I passed my test with an 85. I'm really glad that crap is over.

Series 63

I've decided to take my test a few days early. I was going to take it next Monday, but I don't really want to have to worry about it over the weekend and I think I'm ready enough to take it. I'm going to take it this Friday. I've been making between 75 and 95 on practice tests, so I'm not too worried about it. I have all week to study at night and take more practice tests.

This will be my last test for a while. The only other tests I can see myself taking at some point in the future are my Life Insurance License (which I've heard is very easy to obtain) and maybe a CFP (Certified Financial Planner) certification.

Anyway, that's all for now.

rambling

Well, I'm going to Wichita, KS this weekend. Leaving at 2 PM on Friday and coming back Sunday at probably 9 PM. This will be the first trip I've taken without Troy or my parents since like 8th grade or something. I think its going to be freakin cold this weekend in Kansas unfortunately. I hate cold weather.

I'm going to take my book to study since I'm taking my series 63 on Feb 27. I have less than two weeks left, but I'm 3/4 of the way through the book. I should have plenty of time to study in the car and in the hotel this weekend.

I'm looking forward to the month of February being over though. I'm ready for Spring Break since I'll probably be taking some time off of work. Work gets so annoying and boring.

In other news, not much else is going on with me. Just watching the Olympics when I can, working, studying, getting clothes dry cleaned (damn Blake for making me buy fancy dry-clean-only-clothes), and hanging around. I'm looking forward to the next Pirates of the Caribbean coming out this summer. Oh and playing my FFX and X-2 games. If you're ever bored, just gimme a call.

Star Wars at the DSO

I wanted to go to the Star Wars symphony at the DSO this week, but Troy didn't really want to go with me and I was sick last week, so I didn't want to ask my boss for more time off. I would have had to leave work early and it kinda would have been a hassle to drive all the way to Dallas for like the 2nd or 3rd time this semester already. Sigh... :-( I bet it would have been awesome. Anthony Daniels will be there too as a narrator. Oh well...the two original shows are sold out and another one has been scheduled, but I have a meeting I have to go to for work that night, so I can't go no matter what now.
