Lock the front door and park in the driveway

I don't know about you, but I like to have the front door to my house locked. Unfortunately, some people in my house don't care enough to lock it or fix it to where it does lock. Our screen door will lock, but its glass, it can easily be broken and unlocked from the outside. I think our big wood door should be locked at all times, however, the house shifts a lot and so the lock doesn't always work. Sometimes, it's hard to unlock because it gets stuck and stuff and for some reason, my parents won't fix it. Also, my sister seems to think that this neighborhood is the "safest ever" because nothing ever happens over here. I tried to lock it one night and she went right back and unlocked it. She said I was paranoid.

I have legitimate reasons for wanting my doors locked:

1) In this day and age, no place is safe any more.
2) My sister said that the other night she saw some suspicious people shining a light in the Explorer out on the street looking for something to steal.
3) The Bonneville's windshield has been cracked and one of the side mirrors has been ripped off.
4) It's just plain dumb to not lock them or get them fixed so they will lock.

If people are vandalizing and trying to steal stuff from our cars, then what's keeping them from walking into our unlocked house? Am I being totally unreasonable or what? Also, I don't know why my parents don't just park their cars in the driveway. This might solve the problem of things happening to their vehicles. I guess they think it's too big a hassle to move them when me and Lauren need get out in the morning and come back every night.

Solution: move out of your house.

But yes, you're being reasonable, locks were invented for a reason.

yeah, i think that's pretty reasonable, i mean it's not like it's a big hassle to lock a damn door. and parking the cars in the driveway will probably help stop things happening to them, but "solve" is a pretty strong word.

i don't know about lauren (actually i suggest that neither she nor you ever do this), but when i see shit going down in front of the house i get a baseball bat and, depending on the situation, wait for the fucker to just try to get in the house, or start flickering outside lights and shit to warn them off.

if you're in the house, it's kind of paranoid to lock it, but if nobody's there it should be locked.

I'm sure some people in Canada lock their doors, you're just saying that because of Bowling for Columbine, which consisted of interviews with some Canadians in one town.

I don't think it's paranoid to lock your doors when you're inside, it'd be better for someone to break in when you're not there than when you're there, and while not that many people would try to enter your house when you're there, it's best to avoid a situation like that.

what if you like to have your doors open or your screen doors unblocked by real doors when you're inside?

I figured you were joking, I just wanted to play around because I was bored. Blog of Crap is a good title I think.
