Series 7
I got my Series 7 book three weeks ago and I'm 1/3 of the way through the book. However, I don't feel like I really understand the material yet. I continually get failing or barely passing grades on certain chapters. I'm considering postponing taking the test until next year, perhaps in January or February. I feel nervous and pressured to hurry up and get through the book.
I wanted to get it done with before Christmas so I didn't have to worry about it. I don't know... I still have time to see how things go. I don't want to rush things if it will cause me to fail. I could take a review class with an instructor for like a week if I really wanted to. I may or may not lose pay if I do that...
It's just so hard to teach this crap to yourself. There's so much information and so little time... By the time I finish the book, I probably will have forgotten at least 25% of the information I learned from the first couple of chapters. I'm just discouraged now... it's not going well. :-(

I don't think you should have to delay the test. Keep preparing as if you're going to take it in November. Taking a review class with an instructor or somehow revising your study techniques seems to be the best course of action. Also, you should periodically review what you have studied so that the first material you studied remains in your head.
Like anything, persistance and it will stick. Everyday as to keep it going and keep it in.
